After defeating Dracula 15
years ago in Dracula
Densetsu (1989), Christopher is preparing himself for retirement. But Vlad is a man
who holds a grudge: he has returned to Earth by using
the powers of Christopher's weak-minded son Soleiyu. So it's a tired,
ageing Christopher that must once again pick up his
whip, and rescue his son from the grip of his old foe.
Dracula Densetsu
II benefits from a mind-boggling overhaul over
its predecessor: the gameplay is smoother and the level layouts are vastly improved.
Sub-weapons make a welcome return (although there
are only two) and the quest’s half-dozen stages
are nicely sewn together by
a password system.
Compared to this, the first Dracula Densetsu
is an empty and half-hearted attempt at a handheld Dracula game... This one fills
in all the cracks and ends up as one of the best Game
Boy games of its generation - superior even to the third Game Boy game of the series Akumajō
Dracula - Shikkotaro Zensōkyoku
(1997).
NB: Both Dracula Densetsu games were re-issued
in limited colour, with special 'Super Game Boy' features
(custom borders, enhanced colours) in the 'Konami GB Collection'
Vols.1 and 3.

Out
of all three Akumajō

is the best effort by far.
It's also becoming quite
a rarity in good condition,
so grab it while you can!
