Bearing
in mind that as this was one of the very first releases
on Super Famicom, Taito did OK with Darius Twin.
Nintendo allegedly withheld a lot of the machine's
"real" technical capabilities from third-party
developers for quite a long time, and given the poor
standards of most non-Nintendo post-launch releases,
this is a more than competent effort.
It does have its fair share of glitches, a poor soundtrack,
and an absurdly difficult difficulty level, but it
is also the first 2-player Darius to hit home - and
2P games on SFC are far and few between.
So, as amazing as it may sound, Darius Twin might
have been a poor follow-up to its predecessors, but
it can still hold its head high - if only for lack
of competition. |
