Hum.
The good news is that the Darius
is back, in an all-new original production
for Super Famicom. The bad news, is that Darius
Force isn't much cop.
Nope, there is absolutely nothing here worth
writing home about. As a matter of fact it
is quite difficult to find something good
to say, besides that this is nothing but a
ladle full of hastily recycled gibberish,
with only 3 different 'Silver Hawk' ships
to choose from and a few mid-level 'route
splits' (a feature later seen in G-Darius)
worth mentioning.
It doesn't matter how you choose to look at
it - even for someone who knows that they
enjoy Darius games, this is just plain weak.
Most stages are bland, the bosses are uneventful,
the music is average and the three endings
are shit. What the hell happened? Were Taito
just cashing in on the massive user base of
the Super Famicom? If so, why bother dragging
one of their most flagship series through
such a grimy puddle of dirt?
Anyways. The fact remains that it is a Darius
title, and quite an expensive one nowadays...
It must have has a very short production run,
since it is becoming very hard to find (as
is the US version, 'Super Nova').
