Andro Dunos
アンドロデュノス
(1992)

Andro Dunos has taken a lot of flak over the years. The main reason being is that at 34Mbit it is one of the smallest Neo Geo titles in terms of raw size, and it's a long way away from from being a jaw-dropping visual extravaganza.
Thing is, it's not a bad game at all. It's quite good even - it just doesn't even vaguely attempt to make the most of the Neo Geo's capabilities, and that was the thing that caused so much confusion amongst the gaming press and those who listen to them.
Forget them. They were, are, and always have been wrong. The Neo Geo is by very definition an expensive format, and regardless of its price what we have here is a perfectly acceptable 2-player shooting game. It may not be as good as ASO II (1991) or Last Resort (1992), but it's still a good laugh. It's certainly much better than Ghost Pilots (1991).
Having missed out on a Neo Geo CD release, the game has slowly become a cult classic of sorts, and its Neo Geo ROM release has been steadily rising in price, now fetching well over $200.
Funny how things work out.
